Binding 13 by Chloe Walsh
5-star review by Siclyana, 11th grade
Plot Summary
Binding 13 follows Shannon Lynch, a quiet girl who's trying to start over at a new school while keeping her personal life hidden from everyone. She's careful, guarded, and not looking for attention – until she meets Johnny Kavanagh, the school's star rugby player. He's confident, charming, and honestly irresistible, and for some reason, he notices her. Their interactions start small, but slowly grow into something deeper, and Shannon starts to realize that maybe trusting someone again isn't as impossible as she thought. Between dealing with her own past and navigating a new connection, Shannon has to figure out how to open up, while Johnny helps her see that she's stronger than she's giving herself credit for. The story balances emotional intensity with quiet, meaningful moments that make every interaction feel real.
Personal Review
I LOVED Binding 13! This is seriously my new favorite book. The romance with Jonny? I can't even – he's literally perfect. He's funny, sweet, protective, and actually notices Shannon for who she really is. The slow burn between them made me fangirl so hard, and every little moment they share hit me in the feels. Shannon's character is amazing, too. You can feel everything she's thinking and feeling, even when she tries to hide it. Watching her start to trust and open up was honestly so satisfying, and it made all the emotional moments hit even harder. The book made me laugh, swoon, and occasionally tear up. The story is intense when it needs to be, but also full of tiny moments that feel soft and real – the kind that make you want to read the whole thing in one sitting. Overall, this book completely stole my heart. I finished it obsessed, smiling, crying, and thinking about it for hours after. Honestly, I want everyone to read it.
